How the Trust Began

The inauguration of Space to Live, grew out of a NESTA (National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts) fellowship awarded to a local resident, enabling her to work with the local community to explore issues of design, place-making and community involvement and its appropriateness to Neilston.  The ideas met with an enthusiastic local response and Space to Live was established, to take forward the ideas.

Working with many high profile partners, Space to Live worked to engage the local community to develop their thinking and generate ideas about the regeneration of their town.  International architectural and design practices Gehl Architects (Denmark) and Gillespies (Scotland) supported key elements of the community engagement process.
