Neilston Agricultural Show

For 181 years the Neilston Show has been the single event that has brought the whole village together; young and old , newcomer and ‘old neilstonian’ alike, farmer, mill worker and, now, commuter. For one day every year, an ordinary field (mind you, in a wonderful setting) becomes champion showground, performance space, fairground and much more; but even more important, it is when Neilston is ‘at home’ to itself in a public setting. The rhythm of life is felt in new generations pushing their kids in buggies, queuing up for the pet show, meeting friends not seen since last year’s event.

But this is more than a fete in a field. The tradition of agricultural shows goes back many years, and it is for to day that, with changing times, some are more thriving than others. Thanks to the efforts of its committed agricultural society, the Neilston shows goes form strength to strength. We like to think it’s partly due to the calibre of the show itself, but also to the unique community atmosphere that continues to draw people back, year on year. Space to Live has had a presence at the show since 2004, using it as prime opportunity to engage with those who know us and those who don’t. We hope that will continue and be built upon.
